Cremated Remains & Containers

If your loved one is to be cremated, it is important to think about what you would like to happen with their cremated remains following the cremation. There are many options available and we will be happy to guide you through these however, the decision is still a very personal one.

Sometimes, the deceased may have left their instructions already with a family member. If they have not, it will be up to those left behind to make the decision.

The cremated remains may be scattered in the grounds of the Crematorium and you are entitled to be there to witness this if you so wish although you do not have to. The crematorium will keep a record of the location of the dispersal and you can ask them for this at any time should you or anyone else wish to visit.

You may wish to scatter the ashes yourselves at a time and place that is right and fitting to you and your family.

Alternatively, you may wish to have the ashes interred at a cemetery or churchyard.

Sometimes, the cremated remains are to be taken abroad. In this case, we will provide you with all of the paperwork required including Out of England Certificates. We also advise you to take a copy of the Death Certificate with you when you travel. Should you wish for the cremated remains to be taken abroad but do not wish to do so yourself, we are able to put you in touch with a specialist repatriation company who offer a personal delivery service.

Occasionally, families request that the cremated remains are collected from the crematorium and held at our premises pending further instructions. We are happy to look after them for you for a period of 12 months before we ask you to collect them or make a decision about their final resting place.
